Monday March 1st was the first day of classes at the University of Wollongong. I woke up at 7am to take a shower and get ready for the day. My first class was INDS 150 starting at 8:30...super early! The class was in a huge lecture hall, but it wasn't anything I hadn't seen before. The lecturer's presentation was pretty boring because it was as though he was reading an essay. He was monotone and had little expression or excitement about him.
After class, I had a 3 hour break until my second class of the day. I hung out with Kelly during this time period. It was cold out so we decided to move inside. We went to a building that had a subway so I got a sub, it was delicious. While eating it began pouring rain, luckily we were inside!
My second class of the day was SOC 103, this class was packed. There were so many people that some students had to sit on the floor because there were no seats left. The lecturer was completely different than my first one. He was very energetic and seemed very excited to be teaching the class. He even told us that he just moved here with his partner and 2 kids. He seems very open, and I'm sure our lectures will be very entertaining!
By 1:30 I was done with my day so I headed to the bus station to get home. Unfortunately, the bus didn't come for about 30mins and I got to stand in the rain waiting for it. When it finally arrived I was able to get on it though which was lucky because many people were left behind.
Just from the first day I realized that my experience will be different here than at UNH. At UNH I can go home to AZD in between my classes to mingle and relax. This is not possible here due to the fact that it is a 20minute bus ride to get back to my apartment. It seems more like highschool, where you leave early in the morning and return in the late afternoon.
