This weekend was kind of low key. It was very rainy on Thursday and Friday which made it hard to do much of anything, since most activities are outdoors. We did find a store to rent movies from, which was really needed since we only have about 5 channels. We didn't go out Friday or Saturday night because those are "townie nights', around here most Uni students go out on Wednesdays and Sundays.
Saturday we spent a majority of the day at the beach. It was one of the first/best days in awhile! There wasn't a cloud in the sky. We did a lot of swimming to keep cool. I made sure not to be the farthest person out in the water though, to make sure if a shark was in the area I wouldn't be the easiest to get at! The water here is a beautiful blueish green color, and it is so clear that you can see your feet through over 4ft of water!
Sunday morning I woke up early to be at the City beach at 9am to do some volunteering. I had received an email from the Uni about helping to clean up the beach. I convinced one of my roommates to join with me. We met a couple new people, and spent 2 hours walking down the beach collecting "rubbish" and items that could be recycled. We found many, many beer cans and bottles along with other wild items such as an entire outfit in the bushes. I even stumbled upon a $20 bill! I was totally pumped!! It also felt great to help to keep the beach clean and pretty!
