Ulladulla

Today (Thurs March 11th) Amy, Jason, Kelly and I went on a major adventure with a new Australian friend. The girls and I have been going to Desperate Mondays weekly at Hotel Illawara and met a very friendly bartender named Matt. This past Monday we got to talking with him and he said that he would like to show us some of the areas surrounding Wollongong. We didn't really believe he would actually go through with this, but when he showed up at our apartment this morning we knew it was for real!

The first place we stopped at was the Blowhole in Kiama. It was really neat, and at one point the waves crashed so hard underneath the rocks that the water shot around 50ft into the air. It was wild!

We then stopped in Berry, which was a quaint little town with all sorts of cute shops. We stopped in a famous pie shop and we all got desserts. I got a vanilla custard type dessert with a fruit flavored topping. It was delicious!

Our last destination was Ulladulla. We explored the town, checked out a surf shop, and went to a restaurant to have fish and chips. I actaully shared a cheeseburger with Kelly, but everyone else got the traditonal meal. The "fish" was actually shark, and the "chips" are french fries that are sprinkled with chicken salt. As bizarre as that sounds they were actually pretty yummy!

After filling our bellies we headed to Burrill Beach. We had the whole beach to ourselves! It was cloudy and kind of cold so none of us went into the water. But it was still beautiful!

I still can't believe that I live in Australia! I feel like I am living in a dream! I would absolutely recommend anyone to come visit Australia. Not only is it a beautiful place, but all the people are so open and welcoming to everybody.
