So this was the first week of classes for me, which is crazy because everyone back at UNH is pumped to be going on spring break in about a week! My schedule is pretty sweet because I never have Friday classes and my days all end relatively early (4:30 at the latest). I am taking four classes: Australia 101 (seems interesting but really based around history), Indigenous People (teacher is super boring...but hopefully it will get better), Into to Sociology (teacher seems awesome...its going to be a good class) and Public Health (also very interesting).
Each class has a lecture and then a tuturial. The lectures are huge and the room is often packed with no seats left! The tutorials don't start until next week, but are smaller groups (around 25 people).I am hoping to make some friends in my tutorials!
Wednesday is the big party night here, so we started off by getting dinner and drinks at the Five Islands Brewery. We really enjoyed oursleves there so I am sure we will be there often. Then we headed to the glasshouse for some dancing. It is always packed there and a great time! I met Dane Fox who is friends with Tyler from home. He seems really nice and surfs, so I might try to get him to teach me how to surf!
Thursday I had class early (9:30) bit of a bummer but that was all for the day. We tried to go to the beach but right before we were walking out the apartment door it began to rain. Such a let down! After some dinner, we headed back to the brewery for their happy hour. Jason and I decided to get a shot, we were open to try anything so the bartender made us an "Abortion". It was delicious! Made of a combination of peach schnapps, baileys and cherry flavoring, yumm! After staying there for a while we headed to Hotel Illawara for retro night. There was a long line that we didn't feel like standing in so Amy, Katie and I walked to the front to try to skip the line. It totally worked! It was awesome! After lots of dancing we decided to call it quits! What a great 1st week of school!
